Work Study

Southeast Technical College students with financial need may be eligible for on-campus employment though the Federal Work-Study (FWS) program. Financial need is defined by the Department of Education and students must file the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine eligibility. The FAFSA is available online at fafsa.gov after Oct. 1 each year.

Needs workstudy assistance for:
Fall ‘24-Spring ‘25    10 hours per week
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for providing first tier technical support of software, hardware, classroom technology, printing and network problem resolution to Southeast Technical College faculty, staff, and students. This position clearly communicates technical solutions in a friendly and professional manner while providing initial diagnostic and troubleshooting for end‐user problems over the phone, online, or in person. These duties will include answering the telephone, directing calls to the appropriate departments, and other duties as required.
  • Serve as Tier 1 support for student and employee computer and login related issues.
  • Assist users with MFD Devices and print management system (PaperCut).
  • Assist students with the troubleshooting and repair of both recommended and non- recommended laptop computers and related peripherals. Escalate such issues as necessary.
  • Assist faculty and staff with the troubleshooting and repair of laptop/desktop computers and related peripherals. Escalate such issues as necessary.
  • Troubleshoots and assists with difficulties experienced by faculty, staff, and students regarding technology in classrooms.
  • Input and properly assign issues into the IT ticket tracking system.
  • Assist IT staff with resolving and managing tickets in the IT ticket tracking system.
  • Assist with the inventory management and maintenance of IT equipment.
  • Assist with computer deployment, configuration, and distribution.
  • Assist IT staff with other projects and tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain a professional and organized work environment.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as may be determined by other IT employees.
Skills / Requirements:  
  • Technical background preferred but not required, strong ability to learn and follow instructions required.
  • Ability to manage one’s time effectively and to balance both job responsibilities and academic success.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a customer service environment.
  • Ability to proactively manage assigned workload and to execute tasks in a timely manner, while maintaining high academic standards.

Supervisor:  Student Success Center Registrar Assistant
Building:  Mickelson Building 

Needs workstudy assistance for:
Spring ‘25    10-15 hours per week
 
Duties and Responsibilities:      
A variety of duties including customer service, data entry, scanning/photocopying, and other tasks as assigned. Individual will direct Student Success Center visitors and provide assistance for Student Success staff.                         
 
Skills / Requirements:  
Individual should have a good working knowledge of computers, clerical skills, and the communication skills necessary to provide excellent customer service.  Applicants must be able to work with limited supervision. Also requires attention to detail and the ability to work appropriately with confidential information.

Students will need their Drivers’ License, Social Security card and a voided check. Pay is $15.00 per hour. Fingerprinting and background check are required.
